I Will Bear Witness is a neon text-based installation created for the 2nd Terrain Biennial in 2015, curated by artist Sabina Ott, and displayed on the front porch of Ott's house in Oak Park, IL. Part of a festival of site-specific public art that bridges public and private spaces, the piece was visible twenty-four hours a day, with its brightness shifting according to the time of day. The piece’s fluctuating light underscores the constancy and varying intensity of bearing witness. Serving as both invocation and exhortation, I Will Bear Witness explores themes of individual and community engagement.
